Shein, the fast-fashion giant, announced that he would open his world’s first permanent entity in France in November of this year, in close cooperation with the French major department store Société des Grands Magasins (SGM). The first shop will be located on the sixth floor of BHV Marais in Paris and is expected to open its doors in early November, followed by the opening of five “stores” in Galeries Lafayette (Mr. Buddha’s department stores) in Chang, Grenoble, Lans, Limo and Ange.

SHEIN’s collaboration with SGM focused on the “store shop” model, a low-risk embedded layout that allows for the borrowing of the customer flow and supply chain advantages of the brand department store, and rapid testing of lower-line temperatures. The first permanent shop will be visible on the sixth floor of BHV Marais in Paris in early November, covering approximately 500 square metres, with the principals hitting young and fashionable clothing, accessories and small-scale make-up, with a daily average expected to flow more than 2,000 people. Five Galeries Lafayette stores then opened in a “step-by-step” manner: from the first shop at the end of November, to the Grenoble, Lance, Limo and Anthem shops in December. These doors, which vary in size from 200 to 400 square metres, were designed to be inspired by the digital dressing room of SHEIN, to incorporate the AR Interactive Mirror and Real-Time Inventory Synchronization System, and to allow customers to “line browse +-line sub-trip”.

The CEO of the SGM Group states: “The dynamism of SHEIN will breathe fresh blood into our mall, especially in the post-epidemic era, when the physical retailing needs to integrate the digital experience.” The door shop product line covers the SHEIN core group: 1,000 + a week for clothing and 5-50 euros for price bands, with emphasis on the fast-paced “go and buy”. Since its creation in 2012, SHEIN has been known for its algorithm-driven supply chain and social media marketing, with global GMVs exceeding $30 billion and users over 200 million in 2024, relying mainly on Apps and websites. Previously, it had been limited to a flash shop: the Pop-up shop in London and Berlin attracted 100,000 visitors in 2023, mostly for short-term promotion.

The French premiere was a “permanent” breakthrough by SHEIN, which resulted from a brand upgrade of the “whole-channel” strategy. – In the first half of 2025, SHEIN has invested $1 billion to optimize logistics and physical layout, with a target of 100 global shops by 2027.
