Nexon confirmed earlier that one of the key attribute values derived from the classic IP Adventure Island, where RPG was located, ” MapleStory: Idle RPG ” , had been unable to reach its highest value for weeks in a row. An official apology was made and a refund and compensation for the affected player was announced.

According to Korean media reports, since the game went online in November 2025, players have shown that, even if paid proprietors are used to improve their ability, they will never be able to obtain the highest attribute values that may arise in publicity. This has given rise to a broader concern following an update of the amendment without official notice. Nexon acknowledged in his statement that “from 6 November to 6.27 p.m. (Korea Standard Time) last December, the maximum value of the capability options in the `capacity development’ system did not appear as indicated in the bulletin. The responsible department discovered the problem on 2 December and updated the amendment patch without informing the user.” They added that “the maximum value of the competency option did not occur because the probability in the capacity formula should have been set at `less or equal’, but it was `less’. Nexton Korean management stated that it was not informed of the matter until 25 January and assumed full responsibility.

In practice, this means that players who try to follow or upgrade their abilities during the affected period cannot obtain the highest possible attribute values, no matter how many times they try. According to Necon, the probability setting was wrongly configured, resulting in the top results not being mathematically achieved. The company indicated that it had discovered the problem internally on 2 December and quoted the repairs, but did not notify the player, while management stated that it was aware of the matter only at the high-level meeting on 25 January. Nexon confirms that it will be returned to the affected game for purchase. Players using the replacement capacity of the Order of Honour will receive a full refund, plus an additional 200 per cent of the currency they pay. All users will also receive additional game items. In his apology statement, Nexon stated: “We again express our deepest apologies to all players who have trusted and supported MapleStory: Idle RPG. Although we discovered errors that had a critical impact on the game experience, they were repaired without prior notification to the player. We fully acknowledge our responsibility in this matter and have therefore decided to provide a full refund to all players who wish to do so.”

Nexon added that details of the process and schedule of refunds would be published in a separate notice. Once the refund process has been completed, game access will be restricted in accordance with existing service policies and purchases made after the announcement do not qualify for refund. Nexon also confirmed that there was internal accountability. “We will conduct a thorough investigation of the responsible parties and take all disciplinary measures, including dismissal. We are currently conducting a critical review to prevent the recurrence of such problems, and if any further problems are identified, we will notify the users of action in a timely manner.” Necon, “MapleStory: Idle RPG”, will continue to work on this issue and inform the players of further progress.
